I am have horrible problems with the chicks piling up in a corner and killing the ones on the bottom. I lost 100 one weekend and lost 30 more yesterday morning. I have tried having different locations of heat lamps, bedding in thick shavings and even splitting them up so they are not over crowded. I'm not sure what will help. Anyone have these problems and what do you do? Thanks in advance

Brad I take a board and run from wall to wall at an angle eliminating the corner. also heard of folks using flexible metal to round out the corners where the birds cant pile up.

It has to be a heat problem, have you checked the temperature? I keep a thermometer with the wire probe handy in the brooder barn to check on things when I have this issue.
There maybe a draft or the thermostat is going wacky on you.

Depending on heat source, if you're using brooder bulbs you may need more than one heat source. I also put my heat source in the middle of the pen or brooder. Like Randal said make the corners rounded.

rounded corners, we would have the same problem if we didn't use wire to round the corners off. check the temp, to little will make them huddle together, any bad draft at night and over crowding will cause a lot of problems
