I mix the black oil sunflower seeds in my pellets along with wheat crimped oats and some popcorn. I start this in oct. and it may take some birds a couple days but they like them.

I feed pellets and then also a gamecock mix by Big V. It has black oil sunflower in it and safflower. It is easier for them to eat and same result. All are very high in oil and good for feathers! I mix the gamecock feed with wheat also!

I also feed a mix grain with the sunflower seed once or twice a week. The only problem I have is after they eat the grain, they slow down on the pellets for a day or so, and if I mix it in, then they want to pick out the goodies..(grain)

I feed sunflower seeds that are mixed in a multi-grain scratch. If I mix the scratch in with the Flock Raiser Pellets, the birds will knock out the pellets to get the grain. My birds have pellets all the time and I throw them the scratch on the cold days or as a treat.
