I have a pullet that is laying soft shell eggs. She is laying one ever three or four days. I have given her oyster shells, good quality feed, even red cell. She looks egg bound for several hours before she is finally able to lay the egg. Any advice would be great.

I have two doing the same. Not a good egg yet. I've tried oyster shells but not calcium tablets so I might give it a shot before they get donated.

on calcium tablets , dont know how long it takes , get some vitamin d3 give 1 one day , and a calcium the next , vid d helps with the absorption of calcium , id do that 6 or 7 days , and see how they work out . i used to use calcium tablets , but havent needed them you do need to feed grit as thats what grind the food with , im assuming it would also help to grind the oyster shell raven

i have used liquid calcium from the feed store and it seem to work but you could check out a site called frisky finches they sell something called calcivet it is liquid calcium with vitamin d3 added plus a bunch of other added stuff. it is a bit more expensive but just a suggestion i used it on my caged birds when i had them.
