Would 3x2 pens with wire floors and wood sides and back work good for conditoning.

3x2 is good but wire floors will mess up wing tips.. needs to be solid floor, add shavings, sand or hay for floor material..

Barrel Conditioning Pens

Cheap, rugged, and they work. These were copied from some old school game breeders.

How would you use a pen like the barrel pens? What age bird? How long would you house them in it? Is it basically for conditioning them for show? I do think they would work great for setting hens as long as you used 1/2 wire and removed them to another pen or brooder once hatched. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

I would think they could be used for mating trios or maybe quads. Also conditioning pens as well as just holding birds over in the offseason. The key to these is good maintenance. Keep em clean.

I have seen them used them for seperating cockerels after dubbing, also to condition in, make sure you put good ventillation in them and they for sure need to be in the shade, i would use them if the barrel were excesable, but have not been able to come up with them. I most people that i know thuse them like them.

No posts, I guess every one is out building more conditioning pens, Every one must be like me and hatch out to many and then need more room, I have been out today building 15-18 more pens and have a idea for around 10 more. I hatched around 140 Opals and about the same in Creles, 10 BBreds and 40 blacks,
