I tried to maintain that height, but i think i have a few too close to the bottom of the pen or located too close to the roost. I need to do a little readjusting, but it took me a while to get it to stop leaking and now i am afraid to mess with it :)

I'm a little confused, we're talking about the orange cups with the yellow valve? There are some bad designed cups out there. They are red in color not orange.

Those are the good ones!!! Make sure the cups are not way off level. The bird has to peck the yellow part to get any water. It does take a couple days to figure it out. First day or so I push the yellow valve to show them how it's done. A chicken is not as dumb as most people think though.

I tried this setup years ago and it seemed ok at first but with the aggravation of it always stooping up or having to take the cups off to clean them etc. I finally ditched the deal and gave it all away.
I hope you have it all figured out and it works for you but I have went back to the pint cups and have used them for years and get along with them fine though they are extra work.

I use the same cups in most of my pens. Now where its above ground or on wire it works well inside, but if in closed in pens or inside pens I recommend and outside mounting or they may at one time or another use as a perch and soak your floor. Just my experience with them. I do highly recommended them. They save time and u are easily able to medicate all your pens by attaching a separate 5gal bucket to the system. Just my 2cents.

Yes Tim i was worried about too! So far they haven't tried to use them as a perch, but that doesn't mean that they won't.
