Does anyone have any recommendations for a new incubator? I have the GQF 1588, which is the styrofoam with electronic thermostat. Did not have much luck hatching old english, extremely low rate. Also large fowl & quail was at about 50% rate. Andy Barnes recommended the Roll X.

I have never had any luck with the styrofoam jobs. I would recommend a cabinet style.

Best recommendation that I have is to have a incubator AND hatchet. Once I did that my hatch rate improved greatly.

I have a 1202 GQF incubator and a matching hatcher. I love having the hatcher - its the only way to go!!
I got a RX2 for and early Christmas present last year, took awhile to work the bugs out, but I really like the machine. Those hard to hatch eggs, weren't so hard to hatch!
The 1202 is a good machine too, but as most of us know, some of our OE lines are "tight" and hatchability is low. The RX2 provides the advantage in that situation.

I have improved my hatches by using two GQF incubators...one as an incubator and the other dedicated as a hatcher. I am going to look at a Dickey later this fall.

Does anyone use a Styrofoam Incubator for a hatcher? I thought about buying one I've got some eggs in my Incubator that are post to hatch this week and my hatcher has broke down, I've heard good and bad just like to here a little feed back.

Never used one of the styrofoam incubators as a hatcher Roosterman. If you have a digital thermostat in it, your heat should be okay. You will certainly need to increase humidity so its always best to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

I would recommend the Dickey's with the electronic thermostat. This is the second one that i have owned... The previous one was the wafer thermostat is was a good incubator but the temp would fluctuate a little more than this new one...
