My final hatch is now 4 weeks old and I beat the odds. 16 hatched, put 2 down which left me 5 roos and 9 pullets. Of the 9 pullets 2 were blue wheaten sport, 2 wheaten, and 5 blue wheatens. I thought that 5 blue wheaten pullets was a very high number percentage wise. Hopefully the BB at Nationals will be in that group. LOL

2 more weeks to go and I'm done. I've got 12 males that are about 4 months old. I also have about 10 that are still chicks. I'm not set-up for putting alot of individual birds up during the hot weather, so I shoot mostly for the Spring shows.

I just thought I was done! Machines have been turned off for 3 weeks now, but this week, 4 hens have shown up with a total of 17 chicks. No telling what the parentage is on these little critters. I gathered them up and put them all with one hen, she seems to love her extended family.

Too funny. I have one hen that I take away her chicks every Friday and give her new ones. One day she might wonder way her chicks never grow up. :)

Ken and I have finally shut down the hatching. Well, maybe another hen or two! Now comes the time to start making room for all the young ones. We probably hatched over 700. We've culled some and some culled themselves.
This next week we are going to look at our breeders to see which ones we may let go. I know we have a few good breeder Sebrights that wouldn't be good for show. We had some nice looking ones that had a toe nail or two missing. we did hatch a bunch of them. hope they turn out good.

Arkie when you say Sebrights are you referring to the breed or the color in OE?
