Just wondering how you all dub the comb as far as how you hold the roos head? I've dubbed 30 so far this week and the first 15 I held the top of the comb and the last 15 I held the roo by his bottom beak with my thumb in his mouth and index finger under the bottom beak. To me the trims looked better and it was easier to hold by the beak. When I held one by the comb it ended up a little short.

I use my Finger in his mouth and trim the comb.. easy way to make sure its not to short is draw a line with a Sharpe and cut on the line..

you can trim the birds comb now, sometimes the comb gets big before the bird is ready to completly trim, always like to see the birds sickle feathers almost finished before doing the final dub.

I never dub until the sickles are developed either. I usually do it in the early Fall.

I saw an article by Tracy Hill on dubbing thats pretty good. He took a towel and cut a hole towards one end for the head to go through and then wrapped the rest of the towel around the bird. I tried this and it works good. I also put a small zip tie around the legs which cut down bird movement to none.

Del ordered me some new german made surgical scissors through his vet clinic. Can't wait to try them out on some combs.

I wrap the bird in a towel and tape it down. Just the head is sticking out in front and feet are out the back.
